Palo Alto Auxiliary for Children
Volunteers raising funds for the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford
Established in 1931, the Palo Alto Auxiliary has raised money for children needing help. Volunteer members have engaged in wide-ranging activities all to provide financial support for uncompensated medical care given to children at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford. These have included successfully running a restaurant at the Allied Arts Guild, creating and selling an award-winning cookbook and holding different special events.

Dear Palo Alto Auxiliary Members and Friends,

In the face of our nation's (and world's) corona virus epidemic, the auxiliary has, of course, cancelled all activities that involve groups of people. Sadly, that included our Restaurants with Heart program and our Spring Tea and Fashion Show. We still have high hopes for our annual Summer Garden Party and Silent Auction in mid-August. We will all appreciate it if, by summer, we can dispense with "social distancing" and enjoy a party with a purpose.

Within minutes of hearing about this need, Association leadership contacted the members of the Endowment Committee, reached out to the Board Members of the Association of Auxiliaries, held a virtual vote (unanimous) and a mere 14 hours later, had a check for $115,000 from our Association Endowment payout to deliver. We are grateful to Endowment Members, our Auxiliary Presidents, Second Delegates and all of our members for making this happen. And happen so quickly.

This is surely a reminder that we are all in this together and, if everyone will do what she or he is able to do to help in the fight against the disease, we may come out of the battle better people for the experience. Stay safe and stay well everyone!

Marilyn Anderson
President, Palo Alto Auxiliary
